In Memory of Ruth Hill

August 12, 1911 - February 13, 2006

This page is to commemorate and celebrate Ruth's life, particularly with our obedience club.

Ruth was born in Syracuse, New York.

In 1946 she began training dogs with Milo and Margaret Pearsall.

She married Wesley Hill and lived in Arizona 54 years until after her husbands' death.

She then moved to Texas in 1990 and quickly found and joined our club.

Her favorite breed was the Bichon Frise, although in her last years she made the foray into Dobermans and Australian Shepherds.

Her constant work in obedience earned her many awards.

Ruth was a constant presence at our club functions.
You could always count on her participating in some form or fashion.
She gave of herself freely and was happy to help wherever and whenever she could.
These are but a few of the reasons she was voted as the Member of the Year in 2000.

She worked at Parker County Vet Clinic for 12 years as the 'caller', making calls to the clients checking on the dogs before and after their appointments.

She was a member of the Metro All Breed Obedience Club, the Bichon Frise Club of America, the Phoenix Field and Obedience Club and the All Breed Club of Arizona.

She recently began training with Cathy Niles in Carollton, TX.

Her health began to deteriorate of late, beginning with her vision, then various other ailments occurred during the last year that made her life difficult, but she fought and persevered. She was active and training up until the day she died.
