Our instructors have a wide and varied knowledge of dog breeds. Our members show in Conformation, Agility, Rally, Obedience, Fly Ball, Field and Tracking. Based on the wide knowledge of our instructors MABOC has formulated the following classes. Please note, not all classes are offered at each session.
This class is for new puppies. Dogs are taught to sit, down, settle, and have play time. Dogs must be at least 3 months of age and had a rabies vaccination.
A behaviorial program based on the principles of desensitazation and counterconditioning. This class is for people who want to teach their dog to focus in difficult situations and especially for people whose dogs are easily distracted, stress, or reactive.
Help your dog become a respected member of your family. Basic obedience commands are the foundation for teaching other commands.
The beginner class taught with all positive reinforcement.
Continued work with your dog to prepare for Novice class and/or obedience trial competition. Some rally moves are introduced.
This is an intensive class which will focus on attention work, distractions in attention exercises, and heeling. At least 15 minutes of each class will be spent working on handling/footwork without the dogs.
Competing in the Novice class at obedience trials can earn an AKC Companion Dog (CD) title.
"Novice Class demonstrates good canine companion skills such as heeling, both with and without a leash, coming when called, standing for a simple physical examination, and staying in both a sit and a down position with a group of dogs." --AKC website
Competing in the Open class at obedience trials can earn an AKC Companion Dog Excellent (CDX) title.
"Open Class is more challenging as more exercises are done off leash and retrieving and jumping challenges are added." --AKC website
Competing in the Utility class at obedience trials can earn an AKC Utility Dog (UD) title.
"Utility Class, which includes scent discrimination, directed retrieves, jumping and silent signal exercises, is the most challenging class." --AKC website
Rally is a fun activity for both dog and handler. A Rally course is laid out with a series of stations instructing the handler on what action to perform.
In the Rally class, students are taught the AKC Novice signs and the UKC URO1 signs. Courses alternate between AKC and UKC.
In the Advanced Rally class, students are taught the AKC Advanced and Excellent signs, and the UKC URO2 and URO3 signs. Courses alternate between AKC and UKC.
